For the first time in the nine-year-long history of the trail run series roe bucks shall run in the green heart of Riga itself - the culture and recreation park "Mežaparks"!
"Everyone knows the bustling central alleys of Mežaparks, the Grand Stage, the Green Theater, playgrounds, and Ķīšezers Café. But so it happens that the entire 400-hectare park could turn out to be completely unexplored and unknown territory for a large part of the public,” says Aigars Pencis, the head of the " Mežaparks" department of "Rīgas Meži" Ltd.
"In addition to the traditional Rīga pine, there are also many deciduous trees growing in Mežaparks, including an aspen stand that is not typical for Pierīga and there are other things that have probably gone unnoticed for people. For example, we have a fantastic terrain: here you can run around in both sandy dunes and wider hollows. Squirrels, foxes, and even deer can be found in this part of Rīga. On the other hand, if you want to enjoy a wide view, you have to run on a trail that goes along Ķīšezers! You can often see different waterfowl there."
"Rīgas Meži" has 380 hectares of green infrastructure in one of the most beautiful and greenest neighborhoods of the capital - Mežaparks. It is at least ten kilometers in circumference. This beautiful and diverse forest can also be reached by public transport; it will only take a minor 30-minute bus or tram ride from the city center.
The managers of the park and the great bandstand of Mežaparks themselves also wholeheartedly support the course of the autumn stage of the trail race series - thanks to the cheerful "Roe buck's" friends from "Rīgas Meži" Ltd. and the North Riga Culture Association!
