Changes in the Series Regulations
Text: Stirnubuks.lv
As we have already announced, thanks to the results gathered from the participant survey, the overall ranking calculations for the ‘ERGO Stirnu buks 2025’ trail running series—both in individual and team standings—have been updated! Yes, this will change tactical strategies and could make the new season even more exciting for the trail-running community. And yes, you asked for a “new look” yourselves!
How are points calculated in the individual standings, and how is the season winner determined?
In the Stirnu Buks individual ranking, participants compete across five distances (Lūsis, Stirnu buks, Zaķis, Vāvere, Skolu čempionāts), earning points across five stages of the season.
In the final stage, the TOP 20 participants will compete in a pursuit format, where the leader starts first, followed by the others at preset time intervals.
The season winners will be determined on October 11th at the “Pļaviņu Grand Finale”!

How are the “STB Super League” Team Standings Calculated?
In the STB Super League, teams (4–12 participants) compete by accumulating points across Stirnu Buks race stages.
- After the first three stages, teams are divided into leagues.
- From the 4th stage onwards, PlayOff battles begin, where teams compete in matchups to determine the best ones.
- The season champion is the team that wins the final stage.
- At the end of the season, the two weakest teams will compete for their place in the league against the two best teams from the lower league.
Points Calculation:
- The top 4 scoring team members (regardless of gender) contribute their highest point totals from:
- “Vāvere” or “Skolu čempionāts” distances (race points only, no sprint stage points).
- “Zaķis,” “Stirnu buks,” “Lūsis”/”Vilks” distances (race points + sprint stage points).
- The top 3 scoring members (regardless of distance) also contribute their highest point totals.

How is the “AKROPOLE Friends League” Overall Ranking Calculated?
A dedicated team ranking for the more relaxed participants of the series!
To encourage regular movement and participation in point-collecting races, even for those trail runners and hikers who typically do not compete for podium positions, organizers have introduced a new competition format—FRIENDS LEAGUE, in collaboration with AKROPOLE shopping centers.
How It Works:
- Register a team of 3–6 members and start collecting completed distances.
- The team must complete at least 21 distances throughout the season to be eligible for the grand prize draw—a €1000 AKROPOLE gift card.
- The team can include both trail runners and hikers, and participants can choose any distance as long as they finish within the time limit.
How to Join:
- Sign up through your Stirnu Buks profile.
- Create a team and start accumulating distance finishes.
Note: Participants can be registered in an “STB Super League” team and an “AKROPOLE Friends League” team!
