“GARMIN FĒNIX Vylks” – 76km of pure Latgale!

From the Suits to the Latgallians! On May 25th in Dubuļi, the third stage of the “Stirnu buks” trail running series for the 2024 season, known as “Dubuļu Styrnu buks,” will take place, marking two significant events: the return to Latgale after an eight-year hiatus, and the 2024 Latvian championship in ultra-long trail running discipline! The Latvian champion titles in the approximately 76km long “GARMIN fēnix Vylks” will be contested by ultra-distance runners, starting at 6 AM near the Jugendstil gem of Latgale – Lūznavas Manor and finishing in Dubuļi, the highest village in Latvia, located in Kaunata Parish, Rēzekne District, where participants of all other distances will also complete their runs.

The start of the “GARMIN FĒNIX Vylks” distance – May 25th at 6:00 AM from Lūznava Manor (Pils Street 8, Lūznava, Lūznava Parish, Rēzekne District, LV-4627). The map is HERE.

Participants in the “GARMIN FĒNIX Vylks” distance can collect their race numbers already on May 24th from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Lūznava Tourism Information Center in Lūznava Manor, as well as on the day of the competition before the start at the exact location.

Please note that you cannot collect “GARMIN FĒNIX Vylks” distance numbers at TC Spice!

The cutoff time for the distance is 16 hours.

How to Get to the Start:

By Your Transport: You can drive yourself to the start location.
By “Stirnu buks” Organized Transport: Departure on May 25th at 5:00 AM from the competition center in Dubuļi. You can find the map HERE!

Energy Points on the Course:

There will be eight energy points along the course where drinking water will be available.

At the energy points, additional snacks for energy will be provided – VENDEN water, cola, chips, salt, cheese, bread, chocolate, and other energizing snacks.

!! External assistance outside the energy checkpoints is strictly prohibited. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification.

Delivery of Personal Items to Drop Points:

Each participant, during the EXPO at the Rēzekne District Tourism Information Center (Lūznavas Manor) or before the start, will have the opportunity to hand over personal items (clothes, food, etc.) for delivery to the checkpoints. Personal items can be collected at the following points:

Drop Point #01 / Energy Point at Mākoņkalns, 35 km into the distance,
Drop Point #02 / Energy Point at the Competition Center – Dubuļi, 61 km into the distance,
Drop Point #03 / FINISH, at 76 km

Besides your race number, you will receive three different colored bags, which you can send to the Drop Points!

Mandatory Equipment for Each Runner:

Fully charged mobile phone with a registered SOS contact – 29558557 (Rimants);
Download the latest version of the distance in GPX format (click “Save link as”!): Vylks_GPX
A cup or bottle to use at checkpoints for drinking water or an energy drink!

Recommended Equipment for Each Runner:

If using poles, they must be carried from start to finish;
Weather-appropriate clothing. For hot weather – a hat, sunscreen, etc., and more relaxed weather – extra clothes, a rain jacket;
Hydration system with at least 1 liter of drinking water;
Energy gels and other snacks as per individual preference;
If a fellow runner needs assistance on the trail, you must help and call for medical aid!

Time spent assisting will not be included in the overall distance result!
